There’s always something interesting happening if you’re a Portland Trail Blazers fans. Even when it doesn’t seem like it.

We Portlanders are an interesting bunch. We are more accustomed to the rain than most communities. And yet, when summer arrives and the skies go dry, we look upon the rare August rain shower as an extraordinary event. Like an old friend has come traipsing by.

Hello rain, we say. Long time, no see. (Almost as if it doesn’t rain in these parts for eight months out of the year, which it does. Sometimes nine months.)

Thing is, it’s been, like, super hot up here in the Pacific Northwest. And wildfires are raging throughout the region, and the sky has been gray and filled with throat-searing smoke. So the rare August rain arriving at noon is like manna from heaven.

Rain In The Summertime

I bring this up for a couple of reasons.

More from Rip City Project

First of all — as you may have surmised — it’s raining outside right now. Or at least it’s raining in the Southwest Hills of Portland right now, which is where this branch of Rip City Project International is located.

Second, because a rainy day is the perfect time to look back at recent events — and gaze forward into an uncertain Blazers future.

We’ll examine that uncertain Blazers future at great length as the summer wears on. (In fact, look for a breakdown of the Blazers just-released 2018-2019 regular season schedule soon here at the RCP.)

Blazers Things

But for now, let’s just look back at some of the things we’ve covered here recently at the RCP.

We recommend you check out our coverage of Damian Lillard’s excellent rapping skills. Dude isn’t just a baller (isn’t just a little bit taller); he can also spit with the best of them.

Now that Dame’s got your groove going, be sure to look at some of the other items we’ve discussed at the RCP. (We cover it all, you know.)

For example: If you didn’t know the Portland Trail Blazers were straight-up dominant on Christmas Day … well, now you do.

Also: “Fist Motion” sounds like something you’d find in the excellent movie “Kung Fu Hustle.” (If you haven’t seen this film, then you’re truly missing out on something wondrous. But I digress. It is raining after all, and summer rains are perfect for digressions, as I think I alluded to earlier.)

Anyway, back to the RCP. “Fist Motion” is definitely basketball-related, and you can check out a piece we did on this very thing right here.

Finally, Rip City had a sorta sad anniversary the other day, which we covered here. It’s a story about Bill Walton and his injuries and the testy relationship he had with the Blazers. The story also goes into his reconciliation with the town that considers him a legend.

‘True Blazer Fan’: more than just highlight reels. dark. Next

Anyway, more to come.

Stay tuned for that piece on the Blazers 2018-2019 schedule. It will be posted soon.

For now, time to look out the window and listen to an old song by The Alarm.
