As promised, here’s a quick look at some of the more interesting aspects of the Portland Trail Blazers’ 2018-2019 regular season schedule.

On Friday, the NBA released its regular season schedule for the upcoming season. There’s a lot to unpack regarding the Portland Trail Blazers’ season.

Let’s take a look.

Blazers Season Schedule

First thing we gotta do is give a shout-out to the Trail Blazers’ social media staff, who put together this weird, clever, nostalgic and altogether excellent summary of Portland’s schedule.

Next thing we gotta do is insert another header:

The Wild

There. That looks nice.

The wildest thing about Portland’s schedule is something that’s also wildly inevitable, seeing as how they’re the only team in the Pacific Northwest.

You guessed it — for the umpteenth year in a row, Portland will be the most traveled team in the NBA. The fellas will be flying hither and thither — not to mention yon — for a total of about 54,000 miles during the season.

The two teams from Los Angeles — their names escape me at the moment, but I think LeBron James plays for one of them — come in second and third in the most-miles-ya’ll-be-flying category.

I wonder what they do with their frequent flyer points …

Time for another header, yo!

The Wonky

Sweet.

According to our friends at Merriam-Webster Dictionary Services, a wonk is “a person preoccupied with arcane details or procedures in a specialized field.”

In other words, they say: a nerd.

The nerdiest thing about the Blazers 2018-2019 schedule comes from nerd/wonk/sports stats enjoyer person Michael Gallagher, who reports that the Blazers have the highest number of rest disadvantaged games.

That means Portland won’t get much rest this season, what with all the flying hither and thither and yon and whatnot.

The Warriors have the least amount of rest disadvantaged games. (These stats all come from Positive Residual, by the way). Good for the Warriors. They need all the help they can get, yeah?

And last but not least …

The Just Plain Wonderful

What’s most wonderful about the Blazers’ 2018-2019 schedule is how often they’ll play on national television.

Next. Blazers: 3 of Portland’s best Christmas wins. dark

Portland will play on national television 13 times this season; eight of those games will be home games. That’s two more nationally televised games than last year. And it includes an opening night tilt against the Lakers and a Christmas Day game against the Jazz in Utah.

Full schedule here. Should be a fun season.
