The Portland Trail Blazers finally got healthy, with Shaedon Sharpe and Robert Williams III coming back and exceeding expectations. But as soon as they started rolling with Sharpe and Williams back in the rotation in mid-November, which contributed to a three-game winning streak (two of which RW3 played in), the injury bug struck Portland again.
The Blazers have several key players on the injury report, including Donovan Clingan, Jerami Grant, Matisse Thybulle, Scoot Henderson, Kris Murray, and Williams (again). Despite their depleted roster, the Blazers were able to pull off an upset at home over the Sacramento Kings on Friday. Portland's 115-106 victory over the Kings kept them alive in the Emirates NBA Cup 2024.
However, they could have their hands full against the reigning Western Conference champions, the Dallas Mavericks. But that primarily has to do with which superstars are available for Dallas, as both Luka Doncic and Klay Thompson show up on the injury report.
Portland Trail Blazers injury report
Here is the Blazers' injury report as of Nov. 30:
Of the three players already ruled out, Williams is the one closest to return as soon as he clears concussion protocol. Donovan Clingan is set to be re-evaluated in two weeks after suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain. Matisse Thybulle is expected to miss 3-6 weeks after suffering a Grade 2 right ankle sprain.
Jerami Grant (knee) and Scoot Henderson (quad) missed Friday's game and are listed as questionable. Both of their statuses will be updated accordingly on this site as the game gets closer.
Kris Murray was able to play 16 minutes against Sacramento; he's listed as probable and is expected to play again versus Dallas.
UPDATE: Jerami Grant and Kris Murray are available. Scoot Henderson is out.
Dallas Mavericks injury report
The players on the Mavericks' injury report heading into December include some superstar headliners between Doncic (wrist) and Thompson (foot). Doncic and Thompson missed the Mavericks' Saturday game in their 106-94 win over the Utah Jazz and are at serious risk of missing Sunday's game against the Blazers.
Doncic returned to practice earlier this week, which provides some optimism that he'll be able to go, but it remains to be seen and could come down to a game-time decision.
Besides Doncic and Thompson, other Mavericks on the injury report include Naji Marshall and Dante Exum. Marshall is a game-time decision after suffering an illness and exiting the game against the Jazz in the second half. Meanwhile, Exum underwent wrist surgery two months ago and is expected to remain out until after the new year, with an estimated return date of Jan. 20.
UPDATE: Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall, Dereck Lively II, and Kyrie Irving are out. Luka Doncic is available.
