Trail Blazers trades for Draymond Green – Trading Rodney Hood and Covington

If the Warriors season turns sour with injuries to key players, the Blazers could look to pry him away from the Bay Area.

With all-time great Klay Thompson already out for the season with injury, and backup big Chriss joining him, the Warriors are one or two injuries away from having to blow it up for 2021.

The players involved in this trade won’t get the Warriors to another title, but they would get two first-round picks in this deal, and then the chance to get off significant future money in Green.

The Blazers need this trade more than the Warriors do at the moment, but if something changed with the Warriors, like an injury to Andrew Wiggins or to Steph Curry, then there is a chance they blow things up and look to get a high pick in the 2021 draft.

The 2021 draft is stacked, and the Warriors could put themselves in a position to get another building block to pair with James Wiseman for the future.

By also picking up Rodney Hood and Robert Covington, they would also have two pieces they could use to move for future assets, or to play in the 2021 season when the team was fit again.

Chriss would be a salary dump as well, but the Blazers could cut him instantly as he is out for the season with a broken leg.

Hood is a guy who hasn’t played much yet, and as detailed here, he is one of the most likely to be traded this season because of the non-guarantee on the second year of his deal.
