To add a superstar, the Blazers are going to have to draft one
By Ty Delbridge
Wing, Michael Porter Jr. Freshman, Missouri.
"“Porter’s size, shot-creation skill and scoring instincts will make him a coveted prospect next June. He’s a playmaker on both ends of the floor who is just starting to figure out how to put his talent to full use. NBA scouts will want to see him lead Missouri to the NCAA tournament while playing efficient basketball on both ends of the floor”"
"“Porter will get buckets playing in the SEC. He comes to college with a ready-made offensive skill set. Porter can shoot better than any of the players discussed so far. He’s athletic. He knows how and when to cut. He can handle the ball in transition and fly in for putback dunks. Porter is going to score a lot of points, and that’ll keep him fixed near the top of the class.”"
My analysis:
Porter is a 6’10 SF/PF. He can handle the ball, get to the basket and shoot.
In high school he showed the ability to play strong defense with his big body and quickness. Porter would add a ton of versatility to this Blazers squad and could play either the three or four.
He has a laid back personality and would know his role playing with big names like Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum.
A big wing that can shoot, defend and handle the ball is just what this Blazers team needs.
He spent his senior year of high school playing for Nathan Hale High School, located in Seattle, Washington. The team was coached by Brandon Roy. So living in the Northwest should not be an issue.
