Scouting Report – Offense

For a player his age, Collins has the tools to be an All-NBA, All-Star-caliber big man. He can run, jump, catch, screen and finish. He’s got nice touch around the rim, is willing to mix it up inside and has advanced footwork for his age (click the link above for Kevin McHale-esque post moves.)

The ability to turn over both shoulders while maintaining pivots is innate within big men. You either have it or you don’t (ask Dwight Howard). Let’s not forget Collins is able to stretch it out and draw out opposing bigs. He boasts a nice shooting touch which will only develop further with time.

The issue to note here is his decision-making. He is turnover prone, but this comes with young age.

This is where his high character and strong work ethic comes into play. Combine this with developmental coaches such as David Vanderpool and Dale Osbourne and you’ve got a blueprint for success.
