Damian Lillard releases new track, “Free Bands” – Lyrics here
By David MacKay
Damian Lillard had released a new full-length rap track on SoundCloud. It is his fourth in as many weeks. This one, entitled “Free Bands,” features Lillard’s friend’s Bozzle and V.I.P. and is to the beat of “10 Bands,” a track that hip hop artist Drake released on his latest studio album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.
Lyrics of Lillard’s verse [2:30]
"I don’t talk about fantasy, I’m in touch with realityBlind to the fact that the setup a catastropheWant that for the moment cash – me, I need a salaryThey think I’m talking bout some phones when I say the galaxybut my mind roaming, this life aint meant for all of usProblem is we get enticed by everything that’s calling usWant us all to make it, when you late can’t always start a busand baggage get to dragging but this money ain’t a Tonka truckI take pride in being me because it’s good enoughand I’m a great guy but trust me I could eruptI decided to betray pride, stood him upI’m light years ahead of this showing that putty huhIt’s been a minute since people thought I was finishedTook a couple years ‘fore they noticed I was a menaceDominating comp’ and the country was taking interestSmall school, cold fade, boy I’m on my Scottie PippenWhen it’s hard you see the strong rise above itSmile when they ask about the grind cuz I love itGot the game from Pops, mind frame from my cousinAlways in my bag, never lag, easy does itIt’s amazing how this life is what we thirst forWhen you make it chances inflate that you hurt moreLike it be tryna take you under, where my surf board? So my head above water cuz I work soreYou see my lane been changes it’s all a processStarted off a squirrel – changed into Loch NessNow I’m in the game and I’m hardly doing side bitsProbably on the plane cuz the fame gotta ride jetsSometimes it’s hard to digestLike the weight that’s on my back’ll bring my mind stressPeople blowing up my phone I let that line restShooting Js, free my mind I’m launching bomb threatsThat chip on my shoulder look like the moonwhen my days getting dark I know the morning coming soonCrowded at the top I’m tryna make a little roomand it’s always a replacement tryna take it, pay your dues, bruh"
Lillard has now released a new track on four consecutive Mondays. His first was “Soldier in the Game” to the beat of “F*** Up Some Commas” by Future. The second was “Full Stomach” to the beat of “The Food” by Common featuring Kanye West. The third was “Tell Me Why” to the beat of “Why” by Jadakiss.
Keep checking in, as Lillard appears to be releasing new tracks on a pretty distinct weekly schedule. This will surely taper off as training camp approaches, but he may have enough material by then to fill a mixtape.
