Pick No. 40: Nikola Djurisic and Cam Spencer

At pick No. 40, the Trail Blazers could find great value at the guard position. While Portland currently has a logjam of guards, they may need to bolster the position if one of Malcolm Brogdon or Anfernee Simons is traded this summer. Nikola Djurisic has an intriguing amount of potential as a combo guard. He is comfortable with the ball in his hands, whether creating for himself or his teammates.

His Achilles heel, though, would be his consistency when shooting the ball. His ability to become a more consistent shooter could make or break his chances of sticking in the NBA. Though a lax and sometimes disinterested defender, if he can figure out his shot, he could be a valuable bench scorer and playmaker.

On the other hand, if the Blazers are simply looking for shooting, they should look no further than NCCA national champion Cam Spencer. Spencer's shooting prowess is elite, as he moves tirelessly off-ball to get open. Though far from a lead playmaker, he has some competence in transition or the pick-and-roll with the ball in his hands. He lacks size and athleticism and will almost certainly be targeted on defense, but he makes up for it with his hustle and high basketball IQ.
