2. Malcolm Brogdon
Brogdon was in trade rumors all offseason. The Celtics finally traded him in the Jrue Holiday deal with Portland, and the trade talk about the reigning Sixth Man of the Year continues before even touched down in Rip City. The 30-year-old is playing well and mentoring the young Blazers, but Portland has zero reason to keep Brogdon beyond the trade deadline.
Multiple teams were interested in Brogdon during the offseason. The Clippers had a deal in place to acquire him before they had issues with his medicals. The 6’4 guard is averaging 17.7 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 27.1 minutes per game so far this season. He did miss five games with an injury, but is back and looks like he never missed a beat.
Any contender searching for another creator or scorer off the bench will have interest in Brogdon. He is making $22.5 million this season and is under contract for the 2024-25 campaign. It gives the team acquiring him the option to keep him for next year or trade his contract as part of a package for an upgrade in the 2024 offseason.
Malcolm Brogdon is the most likely Portland Trail Blazer to be traded before February’s deadline, but he is not the biggest name who figures to be available.
