Full Blazers offseason report card and grade

The Portland Trail Blazers got under the luxury tax by trading Brogdon and picks for Avdija, landed a coveted prospect in Clingan with the No. 7 pick, and picked up Banton's team option. Did general manager Joe Cronin and the Blazers navigate the offseason well enough to position themselves for a successful rebuild?

The Trail Blazers may not be done with their offseason moves. Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian believes that either Jerami Grant or Anfernee Simons could be traded before the start of training camp. Grant is strongly linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, but it remains to be seen if a deal can be done in which the Lakers agree to Cronin's steep asking price of two first-round picks.

Even if the Blazers don't wind up flipping established starters like Grant and Simons for more young assets to help their rebuild, this has to be considered a successful summer for Portland. Without sacrificing significant assets, they added two long-term starters, Clingan and Avdija, who fit their rebuilding timeline. With only one player 30 years or older (Grant), the Blazers are building an underrated up-and-coming core while positioning themselves to secure a top pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
