Portland, Oregon, has never had the opportunity to host the NBA All-Star Game. It is one of four NBA cities yet to do so, joining Sacramento, Memphis, and Oklahoma City. The Trail Blazers' earliest chance to host their first All-Star Game is 2028, as the locations for the next three seasons are already set. But if history is any indication, it could be a while before Rip City finally gets to host.

Confirmed All-Star Game locations

2025: San Francisco, California — The Golden State Warriors are set to host this season's NBA All-Star Game at Chase Center. The Warriors previously played in Oakland but moved to a $1.4 billion arena in San Francisco in 2019.

2026: Inglewood, California — Another brand new stadium is Intuit Dome, home of the Los Angeles Clippers. The "basketball mecca" cost roughly $2 billion to build and is one of the world's most expensive sports venues.

2027: Phoenix, Arizona — The final confirmed location is Footprint Center, where the Phoenix Suns play. It's not a brand-new stadium like the Warriors and Clippers, but it underwent impressive renovations in 2021 that cost roughly $230 million.

Predicting future locations: When will Portland get to host?

The Blazers will not host the NBA All-Star Game until at least 2028. Although they could potentially land an All-Star Game soon, some factors seem to be working against them, including their lack of an All-Star to headline and the distance every other team would have to travel to get to the Pacific Northwest. After all, the Blazers are flying the most miles out of any team in their 2024-25 NBA schedule.

With that being the case, here's a prediction on future All-Star Game locations:

2028: Milwaukee, Wisconsin — The Bucks have put in their bid to host the event in either 2027 or 2028. Phoenix landed in 2027, but there's a chance Milwaukee could still get to host in 2028. It doesn't hurt that superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo would be the headliner, especially as the NBA continues to expand its global presence.

2029: Miami, Florida — The Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee and the Kaseya Center in Miami have not had the opportunity to host the event. The only year Miami hosted the All-Star Game was in 1990 at the Miami Arena. They seem due to land another at some point soon.

2030: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — Oklahoma City has yet to host the event, although its franchise technically did twice in Seattle when they were the SuperSonics (1974 and 1987). With the Thunder at the top of the NBA for what should be a long time, it makes sense to have the event here in the coming years, especially with their plans for a new stadium, which has a target completion date of June 2028.
