3. Jarrett Allen

Similarly to the Blazers, the Cavaliers are another team to monitor this offseason. Although the trade chatter has recently calmed down, star point guard Darius Garland is the piece that would most likely be on the move if they were to make a trade.

If the Cavaliers decide to move Garland but also want to keep their offensive system intact, Anfernee Simons would be a suitable replacement as another elite shooter and capable playmaker. Offensively, Simons’ combo guard ability could be a good fit for Donovan Mitchell, allowing him to have the ball in his hands more often.

Garland isn’t an ideal fit for the Blazers, who don’t need to add another undersized guard to their messy backcourt situation. However, someone they should inquire about is 26-year-old center Jarrett Allen. Allen, a one-time All-Star, would tremendously help the Blazers with rebounding and rim protection. He’s also an underrated passer, averaging 2.7 assists this season, and could pair well with Scoot Henderson in pick and rolls.

Allen is especially someone they should consider if they don’t view Deandre Ayton as their long-term center. Ayton is a better scorer than Allen, but Allen would be an upgrade in practically every other aspect. The Blazers currently have a lot of players that need the ball to be effective. Allen could be a better fit as someone who can contribute without needing the ball. He’s also much cheaper at $20 million compared to Ayton’s $34 million yearly.
