3 Blazers players who were rated way too low on NBA 2K25
By Reese Kunz
NBA2K25 has been releasing their top 100 player ratings this past week on X. Their top ten reveal will be on Monday, August 26, but it's safe to say no Portland Trail Blazers players will be within the top ten. Their top-rated player heading into the 2024-25 season wasn't even within the top 50.
Deandre Ayton was the top-rated Blazers player, with an 83 overall 2K rating, tied for the 63rd best player. Other Blazers players receiving top 100 NBA 2K ratings for next season were Jerami Grant (82 rating, tied for 70th) and Anfernee Simons (81 rating, tied for 78th).
The Blazers were joined by two teams whose best player was rated at 83—the Washington Wizards (Kyle Kuzma) and Chicago Bulls (Zach LaVine). The only team below them in that department was the Brooklyn Nets, with 81 overall Nic Claxton.
Underrated Blazers players in NBA 2K25
1. Anfernee Simons
NBA 2K25 rating: 81
Simons, as well as Grant, both have legitimate cases to make as the Blazers' best overall player entering next season. Simons is coming off career-best averages in almost every major statistical category, with 22.6 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game.
He has a reputation for being a high-volume scorer that doesn't contribute in other aspects. Although Simons' defense leaves much to be desired due to his undersized frame, he is also an underrated playmaker who can be a solid secondary offensive initiator. Simons should have closer to an 83-84 2K rating.
2. Deni Avdija
NBA 2K25 rating: 80
Newly acquired Deni Avdija should do well in 2K ratings due to his versatility and two-way prowess. Avdija significantly improved his three-point shooting last season and has no significant flaws; due to his well-rounded game, he should be closer to an 83.
Deni has been underrated as he hasn't gotten much national attention with the Washington Wizards, and that could continue to be the case with the rebuilding Blazers. But he's a dark horse for being Portland's best player as early as next season.
3. Toumani Camara
NBA 2K25 rating: 76
Toumani Camara is a solid 3-and-D role player, and that alone should raise his rating by a few points to 78-79. Camara constantly guarded the opposing team's best player despite being a rookie last season. He also shot much better than many teams anticipated when entering the league, connecting on 33.7 percent of his attempts beyond the arc.
Camara could see an increased role next season, especially if the Blazers ultimately decide to trade Grant. If he can continue to improve his three-point shooting, Camara has the potential to be a long-term starting forward for Rip City.
