Pick No. 20: Cleveland Cavaliers select Yves Missi
The Cleveland Cavaliers have already had a rollercoaster offseason, and it has barely even started. After losing in the Conference Semifinals to the Boston Celtics 4-1, there has been a lot of drama surrounding the Cavaliers, perhaps the most in the entire league. The main piece potentially in play is 24-year-old Darius Garland, but it remains to be seen if the Cavaliers move their All-Star.
Regardless of what happens with Garland, the Cavaliers must add more frontcourt depth. Their backup power forward is Dean Wade, and their backup center is Evan Mobley. That won’t cut it, especially if they hope to compete against the Celtics and their loaded frontcourt. Baylor big man Yves Missi is more of a raw prospect that the Cavaliers would have to take a gamble on, but they need to swing on someone to help put them over the top.
As a freshman at Baylor, Missi averaged 10.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game on 61/0/62 shooting splits. As evidenced by his percentages, Missi is limited offensively and would primarily be relied on as a rim-runner in the NBA. His main calling card is on the defensive end, where Missi has the physical tools to be both a rim-protector and a switchable defender.
