With two lottery picks in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers have a prime opportunity to replace whoever potentially gets traded this offseason.

Yves Missi’s defensive versatility could replace Robert Williams III

As previoulsy mentioned, center Robert Williams III unfortunately has a long history of injuries despite only being 26 years old. Williams has only played over 35 games in two seasons in his six-year NBA career. While he fits the Blazers' timeline from an age and positional standpoint, if Portland doesn't deem him reliable enough to stay on the court, it could make sense for them to part ways this offseason. If he gets another bad injury, his trade value could plummet substantially. Right now, the Blazers could still get significant draft capital from a team coveting an elite defender like Williams.

A good replacement in the draft to take a flyer on would be center, Yves Missi. The Baylor center is one of the rawer prospects projected to be selected in the first round, playing only 23 minutes per game as a Freshman and scoring two points in their second round March Madness exit.

Missi stands out as arguably the highest upside center in the draft outside of Donovan Clingan. Missi's 7-foot frame and 7-foot-6 wingspan suggest he could become an elite defender at the NBA level. His physical attributes, good hands, and ability to finish around the rim make him a potential offensive threat as a rim-running center, particularly on fast breaks and in pick and rolls with Scoot Henderson. As a developmental prospect, Missi could make sense for a rebuilding team like Portland at No. 14.
