The Portland Trail Blazers desperately need Yang Hansen to learn from the likes of Nikola Jokic and Karl-Anthony Towns. Not only that, but the Blazers need him to learn quickly because they could be in a position to compete for a playoff spot next year, and having him as a rotational center would be crucial.

When the Trail Blazers drafted Hansen last year, they took a swing. They took a chance on a guy who they believed had a ton of potential. However, the Blazers took a leap last year. They made the playoffs. And now, they seem primed to make another jump next season.

So, they could really use a guy who can produce for them on the offensive end. And to do that, Hansen needs to pick up some skills from the likes of Jokic and KAT.

Obviously, Hansen would have to go a long way to be in the same conversations as guys like Jokic and KAT. He would have to go a long way just to be half of what those guys are.

Jokic is a three-time NBA MVP, and KAT is one of the best three-point shooting big men of all time. Both are champions, with KAT bringing his home this season.

But it’s less about Hansen becoming as good as those two guys and more about Hansen learning the skills that make them as good as they are. The shooting. The passing. The ability to hang around on defense.

The Blazers drafted Hansen because of his offensive potential. Because they saw him as the type of player who could help them on offense. The type of guy who they could run offense through.

Hansen’s court vision and ability to run offense out of the post and from the top of the key are extremely impressive. But he’s a raw talent. That’s why he has to learn.

Jokic is one of the best passing bigs of all-time. He might be the best passing big to ever grace an NBA court. KAT took on a ton of playmaking duties for the Knicks during their title run this year.

Plus, when you add in Jokic’s touch around the basket, KAT’s shooting and driving abilities, and both of those guys’ ability to at least stay solid on defense, Hansen has plenty to learn.

Those two stars are the best possible players for Hansen to study if he wants to be able to help the Blazers this upcoming season.
