As the Portland Trail Blazers consider different ways to improve this season, a potential trade for Chicago Bulls guard Coby White could be an intriguing idea for them to consider, yet the idea seems to be flying under the radar. White has emerged as a great scorer, and pairing him alongside the likes of Deni Avdija, Shaedon Sharpe, and Toumani Camara would be perfect.

White’s abilities as a three-point shooter and offensive creator would give the Blazers a ton of juice on offense. He would elevate the talent of Avdija and Sharpe while also giving them another core building block to prioritize moving forward, as he’s still only 25 years old.

Trading for White could be great for Portland, but the possibility hasn't been discussed much.

Blazers should try to trade for Coby White

White just returned to the Bulls’ lineup after dealing with calf injuries at the beginning of the season, but it seems like he hasn’t missed a beat. He’s been solid.

So far this year, White has appeared in nine games for the Bulls, starting all but two of them and playing 29.2 minutes per contest. In those appearances, White has averaged 21.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists while shooting 43.0% from the floor and 26.9% from deep on 7.4 three-point attempts per contest.

Though the three-point shooting hasn’t been there for White this year, he’s shot at least 37% from distance in each of the last three seasons. He’s a reliable long-distance threat.

Adding that sort of offensive talent to Portland’s lineup is exactly what could take them to the next level in what is shaping up to be a brutal Western Conference playoff race.

And if they’re willing to pony up for him in a trade, they could find a way to make a move happen. It wouldn’t be too hard for them to get there, either.

Trading Matisse Thybulle to Chicago in exchange for White works from a financial standpoint. Obviously, the Blazers would have to add some significant draft capital to the deal, and maybe even a young asset, but getting a guy like White would be worth it.

He fits everything they are trying to do, especially in the long run.

And even in the short-term, once Jrue Holiday gets healthy again, Portland could roll out a starting five of White, Holiday, Sharpe, Avdija, and Clingan, with Camara being the first guy off the bench. It would be a beautiful balance of offense and defense.

If they can make it work, trading for White would be awesome for the Blazers.
