2024 NBA Mock Draft: Blazers take game-changer, Spurs get star at 1
By Tyler Watts
6. Orlando Magic draft Stephon Castle
The Magic are loaded with talent and hope to take a step forward this season. Former number one overall pick Paolo Banchero is a future star, and Franz Wagner has All-Star upside. Orlando drafted Anthony Black sixth overall in 2023. Now is the time for the Magic to put it all together. They have the young talent and must develop them into a contending roster.
Orlando should be focused on taking the best player available, and Castle has a ton of upside. The 6’6 guard could be a game-changer on both ends of the floor. He is one of the best passers in this class and loves attacking the rim. The teenager can guard multiple positions on the other end of the floor and could be a two-way threat.
Castle must improve his jumper and show that he can run the offense. He was a below-average 3-point shooter in high school and must clean up his mechanics. The defending national champion UConn Huskies are loaded with talent, but they need Castle to be their lead playmaker. Is he up to the challenge? If he shines, the 6’6 teenager could be in the running to go number one overall on draft night.
The Orlando Magic would love to have a ton of size and versatility across the floor. Playing Stephon Castle with Banchero, Black, Wagner, and Wendell Carter would be scary for opposing teams, especially if all five players reach their ceilings.
