2024 NBA Mock Draft: Blazers take game-changer, Spurs get star at 1
By Tyler Watts
3. Portland Trail Blazers draft Alex Sarr
The Blazers are entering a rebuild but have some building blocks. Scoot Henderson is the team’s point guard of the present and future. Shaedon Sharpe and Anfernee Simons are still improving and showing flashes of being standout contributors. Deandre Ayton is a former number-one overall pick with massive potential. Portland must make the pieces fit but should be searching for another game-changing prospect in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Sarr has seen his draft stock skyrocket over the last four months. He led France to the silver medal at the FIBA under-19 World Cup before shining in Las Vegas as his Perth Wildcats took on the G League Ignite in a preseason showcase. Sarr had six blocks in each of the two games and stood out on both ends of the floor against an Ignite squad loaded with talent.
The 7’1 big man could be a game-changer if he reaches his ceiling. He can handle the ball and make plays to go with a developing jump shot. If he becomes a plus-shooter, Sarr will be difficult to stop on the offensive end with the ability to switch onto the perimeter and protect the rim.
Scouts are raving about Sarr, and the teenager could be the number one overall pick on draft night. The Portland Trail Blazers would love to land this massive talent who could play the four next to Deandre Ayton early in his career.
