Grade of this trade between the Portland Trail Blazers and Brooklyn Nets

This is not a good trade for the Trail Blazers, though it would be an absolute home run for the Nets.

If they keep their young trio intact, the Blazers would have a three-headed monster in the backcourt in Simons, Sharpe and Henderson. Is there some overlap? Yes, but not enough to justify trading a 24-year-old with an incredible amount of potential and upside, especially in a package that nets them such an unfair return, with all due respect to Spencer Dinwiddie.

Depending on what return they ultimately get for Damian Lillard, the Blazers could be a nice team next season. They might not make too much noise, but they would undoubtedly have a nice young core and a ton of assets to improve the roster.

Trading Simons wouldn’t make too much sense for them, especially as there are several other players they should be trying to trade first.

First and foremost, the Trail Blazers need to get this Damian Lillard business sorted out, but that should be the only key piece of their backcourt they trade this offseason.
