26. Indiana Pacers (via Cavaliers) draft James Nnaji

Nnaji is a fringe first-round pick that offers some tantalizing upside. The 6’11 big man has a massive wingspan and stands out as a center in a class light on big men. The 18-year-old is a plus athlete with tremendous defensive potential, but what can he offer on the offensive end of the floor?

Nnaji averaged 3.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks in 9.3 minutes per game for Barcelona this season. He is years away from producing in the NBA, but the talent has scouts excited. Nnaji could be a strong rebounder and rim protector that can switch onto the perimeter.

The 6’11 big man is a traditional center that has attempted just one 3-pointer in his three years playing professionally at Barcelona. He will feature as a roll man and lob target. He has plenty of strength to set screens, but he would need the right talent around him to fit in the NBA.

The Indiana Pacers have three first-round and five total picks in the 2023 NBA Draft. They selected Ausar Thompson in this mock draft and are rumored to be looking to package 26, 29, and 32 to move up. The franchise will be searching for a draft and stash player if that deal never materializes. James Nnaji could play two more years in the EuroLeague before coming to the NBA when he is ready to fill a role.
