Who is Roger Galo and why should we listen to what he says?

Many of you may jump to Lillard’s defense, immediately questioning Galo’s credentials as he critiques one of the greatest shooters to have ever graced a basketball court.

It’s a fair question that would be met with a pretty justifiable resume:

  • 2x All-MAC Second Team
  • 1x All-MAC First Team
  • 1x All-District
  • Juniata Most Points Scored in a Single Season
  • Juniata Single Season Scoring Average
  • Juniata Single Game Scoring Record (50)
  • 3 of 8 of Juniata’s top scoring performances
  • Juniata records for most free throws in a game
  • Juniata single game, season, and career leader in free throw percentage

After an excellent collegiate career, Galo stumbled upon a trend that had him questioning the very basics of jump shooting as a whole:

"It all began with an unintentional journey that started 14 years ago when I began to notice how the gifted, enhanced, stronger, longer, more sophisticatedly trained and equipped players seemed to be struggling when it came to making shots."

After delving deeper, he discovered that other researchers had concluded that the jump shot has not evolved in a significant way for decades now, and perhaps, the textbook form that is taught and passed down isn’t the most ideal.

Coming from a man who broke shooting records using a traditional jump shot, this theory he had constructed speaks volumes.

He began with the man in the mirror, analyzing and questioning the same jumper that had brought him so much success. After that, he questioned other basketball minds, but was met with regurgitated remarks that lacked empirical evidence or offered anything original.

"These responses were so infuriating to me that I was forced to go outside the basketball community if I was to actually find legitimate information, insight, or answers to the questions I was seeking."

He consulted with Philadelphia experts in kinesiology, physics, anatomy, and biomechanical engineering.

"To say it has been the most eye-opening, incredibly illuminating, exciting undertaking I’ve ever embarked on would be an extreme understatement."

Through his research and conversations with experts, Galo has developed a revolutionary training regiment, becoming a renowned shot doctor with his “Galo Method.” Click here to learn more about Coach Roger Galo and his revolutionary shooting camp.
