Where does Robert Covington rank among 2022 free agent forwards?

Notable forward free agents:

LaMarcus Aldridge, Paul Millsap, Thaddeus Young, Jeff Green, Nicolas Batum, Blake Griffin, Markieff Morris, P.J. Tucker, Otto Porter Jr., Joe Ingles, T.J. Warren, Kyle Anderson, Montrezl Harrell, Bobby Portis, Danuel House, Marvin Bagley III, Jaren Jackson Jr., Mikal Bridges, Miles Bridges, Michael Porter Jr.

Aside from the young guns coming off of their rookie extensions, the rest of the free agent forward class is mostly stocked with veterans well-past their prime. The two Bridges, JJJ, and MPJ are likely to re-sign with their own teams for significant deals.

T.J. Warren could come back from his injury and regain the attention he started building during the 2020 bubble, but besides him, Robert Covington could be left as the best available forward once the rookie-extension guys are off the market.

RoCo is by far the best 3-and-D forward available in this free agency class and honestly could be the top option left in the entire league.

There’s not a single team in the NBA that couldn’t use a top-tier, 3-and-D wing on their roster and it seems like someone will have to overpay for RoCo’s two-way services. Hopefully that team will be the Portland Trail Blazers, but the scarcity in the market may drive his price tag out of Portland’s range.
