Ranked one out of five, Gary Trent Jr 37th pick in 2018 NBA Draft

The best pick in the last five draft picks by the Blazers, has without a doubt been Gary Trent Jr. The son of a 2000s NBA player, Trent quickly became a fan favorite with his exciting play in the 2019/20 season.

As a guy who could defend the point of attack at high levels, picking up the opposition’s best player, Trent was the best defender on the Blazers some nights in 2020.

When you add in his 40 percent shooting from three, which amazingly increased to 50 percent in the 2020 NBA bubble, he was the three and D guy the Blazers so desperately needed.

Sadly, after an average of 10 points game on 40 percent from three in two seasons, Trent was traded to the Toronto Raptors for Norman Powell. His potential massive paydays made him a no-go for the Blazers moving forward. But, he was still a great pick by the Blazers as he will likely be a strong starter in the league, who was taken with the 37th pick.
