Damian Lillard takes a rare moment to flex on Money Ball

Basically every rapper on the planet at some point boasts about how much money they’ve made. Many of them include it in their songs before they even start making dough from their music. Damian Lillard is no stranger to flexing as heard on his track Money Ball.

This song by Dame D.O.L.L.A has one of the strongest productions out of his entire discography. The beautifully simple piano melody underlaid with an old-school drum beat fits perfectly with Jeremih’s smooth voice and the rappers’ intense deliveries. This incredible instrumental is credited to songwriter Derrick Milano.

This track features Oakland rapper Danny from Sobrante, a childhood friend of Lillard’s. It’s very telling of Dame’s mantra that he included a lifelong buddy in his track including a feature from one of RnB’s biggest stars in Jeremih.

Danny does a great job rooting the song to where he grew up with Dame, the streets of Oakland. He keeps it real with lyrics about his tough upbringing and his success as a rapper, without wasting any words.

Dame’s verse precedes Danny from Sobrante’s and his lyrics paint a much more luxurious picture, including bars about rolling in Range Rovers and private jets. Dame D.O.L.L.A shows off a rare air of arrogance that his basketball persona scarcely shows on the court.

It’s breathtaking to hear Lillard enjoying his success without the pressures of winning it all in the NBA. My favorite line from the song comes compliments of Dame in a pun that doubles as a shoutout to an NFL defensive back:

"“Ha Ha Davis to the bank, I got money, money”"
