Portland Trail Blazers bargain free agent #9 – Dewayne Dedmon

Dewayne Dedmon is a traditional center like Len, but he can also stretch the floor as well.

Finishing the season with the Miami Heat, Dedmon finished well around the basket and rebounded at the high rates we’ve seen from him his whole career. Though he isn’t always required to shoot threes by the teams he plays on, having that string to his bow is great for teams who want to play five out.

Dedmon is a strong defender who can force turnovers because of his big reach or use his seven-foot-frame to protect the rim.

He would be a perfect backup big for the Blazers on the veterans minimum.

Portland Trail Blazers bargain free agent #10 – Aron Baynes

Aron Baynes had a slight down year in 2021 on a Toronto Raptors team that didn’t expect to find itself in the lottery. He signed for a career-high $7 million in the off-season after putting up his best numbers across the board in Phoenix the previous year.

Baynes is still an excellent big, though, and can function as a starter or backup.

Baynes is a tough defender who protects the rim with his size, strength, and great positioning in traditional pick and roll coverages. He is an excellent screener and is great at boxing out and defensive rebounding. Though he’s no Dirk Nowitzki, Baynes can stretch the floor too.

He has a partial guarantee in Toronto this year, so he could potentially sign elsewhere in 2022.
