Team #6: Miami Heat

Portland Trades: CJ McCollum

Miami Trades: Victor Oladipo (via sign and trade), Precious Achiuwa, Kendrick Nunn

Why Portland does this: I must admit this is not overly appetizing to me but that just gets back to the point here, finding a reasonable trade for as gifted of a player as CJ is near impossible. Oladipo has slowed down a bit due to injuries in the past two seasons but there is optimism that he will be ready and healthy for the coming season. He offers a lot of the same skillset and similar size as CJ except that he is an above average defender. Nunn finally gives Portland a legitimate 3rd guard coming off the bench although he will be looking to get paid in a year, Achiuwa is a raw young wing that could develop nicely into a defensive minded wing with a versatile skillset.

Why Miami does this: Pat Riley always has to be a leader in the clubhouse when a player becomes available to be traded.  Miami’s offense was nonexistent in the playoffs and CJ would give them what they were hoping to get when they traded for Oladipo at the deadline.
