It was a bittersweet day when the Portland Trail Blazers announced that the team would be parting ways with veteran coach Terry Stotts. While it was probably for the best for both parties, it’s always tough letting go of a play-caller as well-respected as Stotts, specifically when the coach is as good of a human as he is.

The Trail Blazers have began their search and while a few candidates were reported to be in General Manager Neil Olshey’s short-list, the only update we’ve received since is that Jason Kidd will not be the next coach.

For Stotts, his success with the Blazers is sure to create a nice demand across the league. There are not many active coaches whose team can comfortably say is better than Stotts.

Despite never reaching the pinnacle with the Trail Blazers, Terry Stotts deserves to be an NBA head coach

Everyone in the Blazers organization and most of the fanbase have nothing but kind words for Stotts as he steps into the next chapter of his career.

Stotts showed extreme graciousness in his parting letter to the city he’s called home for the last nine years:

"THANK YOU RIP CITY fans! You are incredibly special and unique. The passion and love you have for your Blazers are second to none. Every season, your support and overwhelming enthusiasm made Moda Center the most difficult arena for opponents and the best home court advantage in the NBA. I know of no more loyal fans than those of Blazer Nation. I cherished it and never took it for granted."

It usually feels like a stab in the back when a former coach immediately finds success with his new team, but this will not be the case with Stotts and the Blazers faithful.  Any true Rip City fan should have nothing but well wishes for Coach Terry and his family in his next stop.

That being said, here are three teams that would be a great fit for coach:
