Portland Trail Blazers: Multiple teams looking to trade for Damian Lillard
The Portland Trail Blazers season is over after a disappointing four games to two loss to the Denver Nuggets. With the firing of Terry Stotts and some unhappiness from both Damian Lillard and Jusuf Nurkic being expressed publicly, It didn’t take long for teams to circle after the loss.
NBA Insider Shams Charania and talking head Stephen A.Smith both detailed rumors from multiple NBA teams in the days since the Blazers’ loss to the Nuggets.
Stephen A detailed the New York Knicks, LA Clippers, Miami Heat, and LA Lakers, But Stephen A and his First Take show shouldn’t be used as a proper source for any NBA trade info.
Smith said live on air,” these teams think they can get their hands on him. ” This type of quote is misleading as Dame hasn’t officially requested a trade, so there’s no way these teams would think they were able to get him.
The rumors from Charania are more legitimate though.
Charania shared a link to a story from The Athletic’s Oregon beat writer, Jason Quick, detailing that several top markets were monitoring the situation and ” looking for an opening to make trade offers. ”
This means that fans can stop worrying about Lillard going anywhere. The Blazers and Neil Olshey won’t be listening to trades on their best player. They will first focus on replacing the hole left by Stotts and then looking at the rest of the roster and moving pieces like CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic if need be. Unless there is a massive difference of opinion in the off-season, Dame isn’t going anywhere.
