CJ McCollum, the Portland Trail Blazers star shooting guard, will miss at least the next month of action with a small fracture in his left foot.

Once again, the Portland Trail Blazers find themselves plagued by injuries. This time, CJ McCollum is the injured party.

Before starting the New Year, the Blazers announced that Zach Collins would be undergoing a second surgery on his right ankle. Collins once again will miss most of the season (if he returns at all).

Then, earlier this week, Blazers’ center Jusuf Nurkic joined Collins on the shelf after breaking his right wrist. Nurkic will be out about eight weeks, with Enes Kanter filling in in the meanwhile.

Now, CJ McCollum joins them on the shelf. This marks the third time McCollum has suffered a fracture in his left foot.

Losing McCollum is obviously a major blow to a Blazers team that needs good luck in a bad way. CJ was in the midst of an All-star worth season averaging 26.7 points per game. He and Damian Lillard are the only Blazers averaging more than 13 points per game.

As bad as the Blazers’ defense has been, the offense is in danger of suffering an enormous setback without McCollum. During this time, who will the Blazers turn to? Who must step up with CJ McCollum out?
