Trail Blazers replacement for Zach Collins – Ian Mahinmi
Another big man who hasn’t made a roster in 2021, is former Washington Wizard Ian Mahinmi.
The six-foot-eleven Mahinmi had a lot of four-year tenure with the Wizards ruined by injury, but returned at the end of the 2019/20 season to play 38 games straight, at around 21 minutes per night.
Mahinmi is 34, but as a backup big who has playoff and even championship experience, he can be a break-glass option to put in as a backup big in the case of injury.
Mahinmi’s strength is his defense and ability to get steals and deflections by using his big hands and massive seven-foot-four wingspan.
Because of his athleticism and massive 265-pound frame, Mahinmi has always been one of the best bigs in the league when drawing shooting fouls. He has finished in the 90th percentile every year of his career.
He is also a strong rim protector, finishing in the top 40 percent of the league in blocked shots on seven occasions.
Like the other players on this list, Mahinmi could be signed at the veterans minimum.
