Let’s get to know new Portland Trail Blazers signing Harry Giles. Here are five facts you should know about the exciting big man.

The Portland Trail Blazers signed young big man Harry Giles to a one-year minimum deal when free agency opened in November.

Giles is an exciting center who has acquitted himself well in the pre-season. At just 22, Giles has the chance to set himself up for a bigger second deal in a year. After three years playing for the Sacramento Kings, where he only played two seasons, Giles may be the full-time backup big for this Blazers team.

Here are five facts you should know about Harry Giles

Fact #1 – The Portland Trail Blazers originally drafted him

When Harry Giles was drafted in 2017, it was actually by the Blazers. They had two first-round picks in the 2018 Draft and selected Giles with the 20th pick and Justin Jackson with the 25th pick. They selected these two players for the Sacramento Kings, who then sent Zach Collins, who they selected with the 10th pick, to the Blazers in return.

Though the Blazers didn’t pick Giles with the intention of him being part of the team, it’s great to see him back on a team that will do more for his development than the Kings did. The Kings declined his rookie option after he played just one season with the team, and then puzzlingly gave him a significant role the next year anyway.

The Blazers see Giles’ value and potential and will look to give him the love he didn’t receive in Sacramento.
