Portland Trail Blazers: Ranking the 5 greatest moments in Brandon Roy’s career
5. Announcing His Arrival At The ’08 All-Star Game
Brandon Roy was a clear talent from his first NBA game, where he scored 20 points against the Seattle SuperSonics.
That talent was cultivated in Portland, and Roy soon became an All-Star in just his second year in the league.
Not only did he make the 2008 All-Star team, but he showed he wasn’t just there to be star-struck. Roy handled business, and while the West ended up falling short, it was through no fault of Roy.
Finishing with 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, Roy put on a show under some of the brightest lights around.
Leading the West in minutes played, Roy outplayed the likes of Allen Iverson and Steve Nash.
Second only to LeBron James that night, Roy made a statement that he meant business.
4. Roy Hits the Half-Century Mark
Some nights Brandon Roy just looked like a walking bucket. The was shown especially on December 18th, 2008, against the Phoenix Suns.
On national television and with confidence oozing, Roy erupted for 52 points leaving viewers and commentators alike in awe.

The game truly made him look like “The Natural” as he scored with ease shooting over 50 percent from the field and hitting 19-of-21 free-throws.
As much as the 2008 All-Star game put Roy on the map, his outburst against the Suns further cemented his case.
It’s not often that players score over 50 points in a single game (though it feels more common now), so this moment from Roy was a special moment for the Portland Trail Blazers to shine nationally.
