Resigning Rodney Hood to a two-year partially guaranteed deal

Though some fans may have been unhappy about this signing, Rodney Hood, after this year, would have averaged just $8 million per year in his two full seasons in town.

Great value for a scoring wing who stands at six-foot-eight. Also, the second year isn’t guaranteed. Hood signed his two-year deal in 2019 with the understanding that he was signing at less than the market rate, so to come back on this deal, is a job well done.

Losing Hood for nothing after the year he had last year would have been disappointing, even if he isn’t the same player he was when he comes back from injury.

Hood is a brilliant Iso player who shoots the three-ball and the mid-range at high levels. He has an excellent pull-up game, and he can post up too.

Hood is primarily a backup three for the Blazers, but with more forwards on the roster now, I would like to see him used more at the two off the bench. His post-up game is one of the best for his position, as he can use his big frame and strength to overwhelm other wings.

The Blazers also have his bird rights to go over the cap to re-sign him next season. With plenty of defensive guys on the roster now, I love the re-signing of Hood. A pure scorer and shooter who has elite size for his position.
