The Portland Trail Blazers have a little money to spend on low-budget players. But, here are four free agents that they would be wise to avoid during this weekend’s frenzy.

Check another day off of the calendars: in a mere two days, the NBA will officially open the start of the 2020-21 free agency, with the moratorium a day later. Even though the Portland Trail Blazers won’t necessarily be big spenders, the opportunity to make a splash will be there for the taking.

Portland will have its eyes set mostly on mid-level exception and below players, unless they’re considering a trade of some kind that frees them of some salary. If there’s one thing that they would be wise to remember, it’s this: there’s sort of a reason that some of these players will be free and available.

By nature, players of all positions and circumstances will draw intrigue, But there are a few that maybe it would be wise to drift away from.

A few weeks ago, we threw out one in particular with Gordon Hayward, after he was linked as a potential trade target. Blazers fans are chomping at the bit to see a move, especially after the Phoenix Suns set Twitter on fire with their Chris Paul and the Lakers acquired Dennis Schroder …

… And the Blazers have some Mario Hezonja news in contrast. But, every move wouldn’t be a good move.

That in mind, here are a few free agents that the Portland Trail Blazers should probably avoid during this weekend’s festivities.
