Portland Trail Blazers: 3 teams to monitor leading up to the 2020 NBA Draft
NBA Draft 2020 team to watch – Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors will go from NBA Finals in 2019, to one of the worst teams in the league in 2020, to likely finals contention in 2021.
The core trio of long-time Warriors, in Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and the greatest shooter of all-time, Stephen Curry, will probably win 50 games in the 2021 season. Adding the newly-acquired Andrew Wiggins, who, if engaged, will still score 18 points a game, and the number two pick, the Warriors are still a formidable opponent in the Western Conference.
Though they have a massive salary bill, they have a large trade exception for dumping ex-Warrior Andre Iguodala on the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019.
They could use their number two pick on draft night, with or without the $17 million trade exception. They also have two firsts in the 2021 draft, including a top-four protected Wolves pick, which could end up being quite valuable.
The Warriors are one of the more fascinating teams come draft night. I could see a potential move with Andrew Wiggins and the number two pick, maybe netting them another strong piece or a young franchise cornerstone.
All three of the above teams will be interesting watches on Draft night and in the days leading up. With just a small amount of cap space in the league, trades are a certainty before the 2021 season.
