Portland Trail Blazers lottery-level prospect five – Saddiq Bey
Saddiq Bey is a 21-year-old forward out of Villanova, who stands six-foot-eight and has a six-foot-ten wingspan.
Bey is at the lower level of potential lottery-level prospects. Still, his reliability and age mean that he could help a team sooner than some of the above prospects.
In two years at Villanova, Bey showcased his great shooting. He shot 41.8 percent from three on 4.6 attempts a night. Bey has a varied shooting game, where he can come off screens or pull up off the dribble. He doesn’t have classic shooting fundamentals, but with his size, length, and efficiency, we needn’t worry too much about his form.
Bey isn’t overly athletic and lacks creation for himself because of his limited dribble. Because he is 21, he may only have pull-up shooting ability in the future, rather than the full array of breaking people down and getting to the rim. He can play make a little though, so if his dribble improves, this will open up his offensive game.
Defensively, he plays hard and can defend multiple positions with his toughness and 220-pound frame. He may never be able to guard the quicker perimeter threats in the NBA, but he does well enough on the bigger players to stay on the floor.
Bey is a solid late-lottery prospect who could perform as a spot-up guy in the NBA right away.
The Blazers would love a high-level prospect to fall into their lap. With the need for a three and d wing or big forward off the bench, any of these five could fit the bill.
