Portland Trail Blazers veteran target three – Justin Holiday

Justin Holiday, recently of the Indiana Pacers, is a 31-year-old wing, who stands at six-foot-six. He is one of three Holiday brothers that play in the NBA.

Though he is an NBA journeyman, Holiday’s value in the NBA has only increased over the last few years as team’s clambered to sign ” three and D ” wings and forwards.

At age 30, Holiday had his best year from an efficiency standpoint and contributed heavily to a winning team for the first time in his career.

Before this season, he’d only been on tanking teams, outside of an 11-minute a night role on the 2014-15 Golden State Warriors.

In 2019/20, Holiday’s 42 percent on threes was a career-high; this was on great volume of 4.5 attempts a night.

Holiday mainly played the three this season, and as a small forward, he had some of the best defensive numbers in the league.

His block rate was in the 89th percentile, and his steal rate was in the 93rd percentile. Holiday is another long player – he has a seven-foot wingspan. He can guard multiple positions, being able to go down to twos and then mainly defend threes.

Though his offensive game is mainly threes and midrange, he is a great spotup shooter.

Holiday has only played nine playoff games in his seven-season NBA career, but I still consider him experienced enough to play a significant role for a team like the Blazers.

I would offer him around $5 million a year and let him and Trent share the small forward position. This would mean you could move Ariza and potentially bring in a plus power forward.
