The Portland Trail Blazers officially confirmed their new court for the 2020-21 season earlier on Twitter. Here’s a look at the design.

The next time that fans get the opportunity to see Damian Lillard pull up from 35-feet, or watch as CJ McCollum shifts and shakes his way to the basket, the ambience is going to look a bit different. Earlier today, the Portland Trail Blazers confirmed a court renovation for the Moda Center, officially in effect for the 2020-21 season.

Here are a few pictures of the new court design for the Portland Trail Blazers, via the team’s official Twitter page.

Perhaps the most glaring changes come in either the multi-colored ends of the floor, with one side in red, and the other in black, or the full grey baseline where the Blazers fans will be sitting, assuming the NBA has the opportunity to have fans in attendance this season. If not that, the amount of red in the lines beyond the 3-point arc certainly stand out.

This marks the third different court in as many years for the Portland Trail Blazers. They had the same court design from 2014-15 to 2018-19, before ushering in a different court in 2019-20 that commemorated the 50th Anniversary. And now, this year, Moda Center again works its way through a new scenery.

As the Blazers’ website brings out, this is essentially the same court as the 2019-20 season, but with tweaks, recolors, and additional design elements.

Earlier this month, we speculated a new court was very much so a possibility. In 2K Sports’ official trailer for the upcoming NBA 2K21, some of the decals that were officially released today were on display in the trailer during the Damian Lillard clips.

All in all, the black and red color scheme is a difficult one to ever do wrong through. One has to be intrigued about what this court and its aura will look like, if given the chance to put fans in seats.
