Portland Trail Blazers: Damian Lillard, teammates react to his NBA 2K21 rating
NBA 2K21 officially released the overall rating of Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard earlier today. Here’s how he and his teammates reacted.
It figures to be quite some time before basketball fans are able to see real-life action on an NBA court. In the meantime, they will have the virtual experience of 2K Sports’ NBA 2K21 to look forward to, when the PlayStation 5 launches on Nov. 12 and the XBOX Series X drops on Nov. 10. For Portland Trail Blazers fans in general, the announcement the overall rating of Damian Lillard is sure to be cause for intrigue.
Earlier today, the official NBA 2K ratings Twitter page confirmed that Damian Lillard would be a 95 overall in this year’s game. This represents a major upgrade from a 92 during NBA 2K20’s launch. It’s merely another ledger toward Lillard’s status as (now) one of the NBA’s most respected superstars.
The NBA.com staff has been keeping a somewhat running list thus far of the players who’ve had their overalls recently announced. Here’s where Lillard would rank, based on the players we’ve been introduced to thus far.
— LeBron James, 98 overall
— Giannis Antetokounmpo, 97 overall
— Anthony Davis, 96 overall
— James Harden, 96 overall
— Damian Lillard, 95 overall
— Stephen Curry, 95 overall
— Kevin Durant, 95 overall
Based on that, 2K believes that the Portland Trail Blazers star challenges for the spot of the No. 5 to No. 7 best player in the Association. A point below them, Luka Doncic owns a 94 overall, Jimmy Butler is at 93, and Kyrie Irving is at a 90 overall rating.
What promises to be interesting — besides seeing where players like Lillard, such as Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, and Kawhi Leonard rank. In a personal prediction, one could see Kawhi Leonard snagging a 96, and Jokic and Embiid being a bit lower than Lillard’s group. That would place Lillard in a tie for the sixth spot.
Here’s how Lillard reacted to the rating.
Down below, you can see Lillard’s teammate, Nassir Little, saying that he believed Lillard should have a 97, tying him for the No. 2 spot in the NBA. Based on Lillard’s consistent and unending ascension, it would not come as a surprise to see him make that jump during the next update. February just cannot come soon enough.
