Portland Trail Blazers swingmen candidate #1 – Josh Green

Young, athletic, defensive-minded, Josh Green has many of the traits that the Blazers need. Those traits may make him sound like Nassir Little, but Green has a bit more to offer offensively.

While he’ll never be confused with CJ McCollum, Green has an offensive role and knows it well. As a slashing ‘ three and d wing, ‘ Green knows how to run in transition and does well in catch-and-shoot scenarios.

Green shot an impressive 45.9% on uncontested catch-and-shoot opportunities. While he could improve when defended, Lillard and McCollum will keep plenty of attention, creating many open chances for the rookie.

The six-foot-six swingman boasts an impressive six-foot-ten wingspan, which gives him ideal NBA size. Green could grow into a defender who could hold his own against players like James Harden, Devin Booker, and Klay Thompson.

While “locking down” any of those players is unlikely, the Blazers don’t have many wing options who could even hope to.

Green could quickly become a reliable 3/D option for the Blazers with starter potential.
