Andre Roberson

If the Blazers want a defensive ace who is likely to be cheap, then Oklahoma City Thunder forward Andre Roberson is their man. He didn’t play much in his return in the NBA bubble due to the emergence of Luguentz Dort, but Roberson can probably still add value as a defender of threes and fours in the league.

Roberson was actually a defensive player of the year candidate when he went down injured in 2017/18, while also being selected in the All-Defensive second team in 2016/17.

Roberson is six-foot-seven with a six-foot-eleven wingspan and is a stout 220 pounds. Maybe unable to guard the James Harden’s of this world anymore due to his two and a half years away from NBA action; instead, Roberson could be a plug and play defender on some of the big forwards in the NBA.

He isn’t a good shooter, so his contract value and length would need to reflect that. But a one-year deal worth around $4 million would be of fair value to see if he still has a future in this league.

Roberson is a proven playoff defender, who although he may have lost some of his speed, still has the great help instincts and smarts to assist a playoff team.
