With ‘The Last Dance’ coming to a close, a spot for the next documentary could be up for grabs. Which Portland Trail Blazers teams are most worthy of a spot?

Put any version of the Portland Trail Blazers in a tale-of-the-tape against The Last Dance versions of the Chicago Bulls, and in all likelihood, they pale in comparison. They’ve only had one 60-win team; they have only a single title to show for themselves; they’ve never had more than two Hall of Famers play for them at the same time. But what do they have?

Stories upon stories to tell.

Basketball has always been a number’s game. And where the Blazers lack in the trophy case, they’ve more than made up for in their saga of heartbreak, the David vs. Goliath-type battles, and some of the more memorable players in the history of the league.

In some way, shape or form, one could pick apart just about every Blazers’ team, and find something that’s must-watch, be it for comedy — see the 2003-04 Blazers that ran through 24 players in a single year — or simply because of the ‘What If’ dynamic (take your pick).

Picking three teams among the 50 we’ve been given won’t be easy, and it’s certainly up for debate. But, gun to head, these would be the three that maximize watchability, while at the same time preventing the franchise from becoming any more of a cautionary tale than it’s already become.
