. Shooting Guard. Georgia Bulldogs. player. 41. . Anthony Edwards. 2

The Golden State Warriors have the number two pick. As their core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green age, they need some younger prospects to help with regular season production.

Not only do they need to they ease the load on Curry and co, they need to make this squad younger while having one eye on the future. This task is a little complex, because in 2021 when Thompson returns alongside a fit Curry and Green, they will be in win now mode.

The Andrew Wiggins trade means they do have a wing defender who can slash to the rim. Considering Wiggins strength they probably want to play fast when with the core they have in house, Anthony Edwards from the Georgia Bulldogs is probably the best fit at the number two pick.

Though he isn’t a great shooter, he is excellent in transition and has good size at six-foot-five. His is already a strong 225 pounds, and in conference play for the Bulldogs this season he averaged 6.8 rebounds.

His offensive game is similar to Wiggins in that he isn’t a great shooter, only 29 percent on a large sample size of 7 plus attempts a game. But he shoots 60 percent on cuts and 58 percent in transition.

He is at his best cutting to the rim and has surprising passing ability for a wing, he definitely has secondary playmaking potential as well.

He is an élite athlete with NBA strength at only 18. With a six-foot-nine wingspan he has the defensive skills required to be an NBA wing. An excellent defensive rebounder already, he will benefit from playing alongside Green in terms of his defensive development.

Edwards can be part of the next great Warriors team and will likely make the playoffs in his first season if selected by them.
