1. Moe Harkless

I’m not going to pretend that I have to sit here and convince you all that Maurice Harkless would be a welcome addition on this Trail Blazers team. Losing his defensive presence on the wing was a big reason why Portland started the year off so shaky in the first place.

In order to facilitate the Marcus Morris trade, Harkless was dealt to New York where he presumably has no real role. Moe now joins the long list of current Knicks who could soon be on the buyout market, and that should have Neil Olshey’s ears perked up in anticipation.

Harkless has appeared to rebound from last season’s shooting slump and is still bringing his usual tenacious ferocity on the defensive side of things. Harkless could also be the perfect mentor for Nassir Little, as Portland surely hopes the rookie can one day follow in the veteran’s footsteps.

Adding a genuine wing has been on the top of Portland’s priority list all season long, and while Trevor Ariza has been impressive in his short stint with Rip City, one man can’t do it all. If Moe is to hit the open market, I can’t think of a better place for the Trail Blazers to spend their money.

Speaking of money, I doubt Portland would have ever allowed Harkless to walk in the first place if not for the impending luxury tax bill. Moe has made his money and would be a welcome addition back into the fold as the Blazers look to capitalize on the roster continuity and battle it out with the best of the west.
