Lansgton Galloway

The Detroit Pistons Langston Galloway is probably a buyout candidate from left field. He is in a position though where the Pistons probably want to lose to improve their draft pick, and if they can’t move someone like Galloway in a trade then maybe they can buyout some of his salary and save a bit of money this year.

Blake Griffin is injured, while Andre Drummond is on the trade block. This Pistons team needs to blow it up fully and then focus on building around the young core of guys they have in-house.

Galloway at twenty-eight years old probably isn’t part of these plans. He is a useful player though, and is currently having his best year in the league.

Galloway is six-foot-one combo guard which is slightly problematic in some smaller lineup’s. Galloway is a plus defender though with an impressive six-foot-eight wingspan. Galloway has a strong frame and can guard twos and some threes, he isn’t a great rebounder though so can’t play alongside Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. But he could be a good three and d option on second units.

Galloway is having a great year shooting the ball too. He is hitting corner threes at 54 percent and is 40 percent overall from beyond the arc.

Galloway’s bird rights won’t obviously be a factor if he doesn’t get traded by the Pistons. He is likely to be signed by someone using cap space next summer, so a buyout wouldn’t impact his market.

The Blazers could get a shooting guard who is a bit more seasoned for the bench than the current options. Likely to sign for the minimum also, Galloway wouldn’t compromise the Blazers defense as much when he was on court.

The Blazers direction in the buyout market will likely be decided by what happens at the trade deadline first. If they make a run towards the playoffs then the buyout market may be the first place they look to improve the bench.
