After defeating the Hawks in overtime, the Portland Trail Blazers look to carry their positive momentum into Tuesday night’s game against the Kings.

Interestingly enough, both the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings are both coming off wins over the Atlanta Hawks. Both teams have also gotten off to a less-than-stellar start to their season, so this game will be an important step towards climbing out of the cellar of the Western Conference standings and firmly establishing a hold in the playoff picture.

Unfortunately for Sacramento, they will have to endure this fight without their two best players in De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley — both of whom will miss the next several weeks due to injury.

This is the perfect time for Portland to capitalize on another team’s misfortune — as the Blazers have had to overcome severe injuries to their starting frontcourt. This battle of the damaged goods should make for exciting television and could have long-term implications for playoff seeding.

Staff Predictions

"“I have a strong feeling that losing De’Aaron Fox will deflate this Kings team that was actually building up some steam after a horrid 0-5 start to the season. Buddy Hield hasn’t quite lived up to his new price tag so far and there’s next to no chance he will beat both Dame and CJ in a battle of gunslingers. This is a must-win for Portland.”"

"“The Kings have started poorly and are missing Fox and Bagley. They are still a threat when they play fast but should be too weak to beat this Blazers team” — Stevie Cozens"

"“The Kings have struggled mightily in the early season, but that doesn’t take away from the threat that the Kings core poses. The Kings will surely try to take advantage of the Blazers problematic perimeter defense, but if the Blazers D holds strong, the Blazers should leave Sacramento with a win.” — Andrew Zahnd"

Next. 3 trades to shore up Portland's perimeter defense. dark
