The NBA is loaded with stars capable of putting up points in a hurry, but could anyone from the Portland Trail Blazers lead the league in points per game?

Points have been coming in bunches over the last few years with last season reaching a peak for points scored in the modern era of the NBA. The league is extremely loaded with a tremendous amount of superstars who can put up points in a hurry and leave defenses perplexed — and the Portland Trail Blazers are no exception.

Over the course of the 2018-19 season, the league’s overall points scored rivaled the sixties. Offensive production was at its highest as its been in nearly fifty years. The average score for a team last year was 111.2 points per game, the highest mark since the 1970-71 season. NBA players today are as talented today as they have ever been.

This is a very fun style of basketball from a viewer’s perspective, with various superstars ripping through defenses each night. For better or worse, the rules have evolved into a more offensive-friendly game. This may irk some fans of old school fans, but has generated higher ratings nonetheless.

Who doesn’t love watching a shootout between two of the most prominent stars in the league? Whether its Harden vs. Curry in a three-point battle, or Kawhi vs. LeBron in a mid-range face-off, the action is always exciting. Points are what drive this league and points are what turn players into superstars.

With the evolution of analytics and team’s focusing on adding efficient shooters, the league is likely to  reach a whole new level of scoring yet again this year. Here’s the top five players we can expect to lead that charge.
