Just two months after agreeing to join the Portland Trail Blazers coaching staff, Jannero Pargo can say he has added a BIG3 championship to his resume.

As you may remember, the Portland Trail Blazers hired former NBA player Jannero Pargo as an assistant coach to fill the hole in left by beloved player development expert David Vanterpool. Pargo spent eleven years in the league and a couple years overseas in Russia and Greece. He has collected a wealth of basketball knowledge throughout his journeys.

Which is exactly why the Triplets were happy to announce Pargo as a co-captain when they joined the BIG3 basketball league in this year’s expansion (going from eight to twelve teams total). He would become the right-hand-man for head coach and WNBA legend Lisa Leslie as the team embarked on its inaugural season in the league.

The Triplets would go on to finish their regular season with a record of 7-1 earning the top seed in the playoffs. The Triplets would go on to defeat the 3 Headed Monsters and the Killer 3’s to take home 2019’s BIG3 championship, ending with this clutch shot.

Of course, much like that shot, Pargo can’t take too much credit for the team’s success. He averaged 5.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2 assists per game this season, filling in a complementary role for the main cast.

He didn’t need to be “the man” on this team though, as “Iso Joe” captured the hearts of many BIG3 fans with his dynamic play and record-shattering performance. Instead, Pargo earned valuable experience as a mentor while still remaining in a competitive basketball environment.

Who knows, if the Portland Trail Blazers are lucky enough, perhaps Pargo could convey this newly established relationship with Joe Johnson into a little more permanent situation, as the team desperately needs as much shooting as possible. If that possibility is on the table, we’d love to have Iso Joe on board.
