Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard keeps his sizzling hot summer of new music rolling with this new music video from his recent album release.

Damian Lillard’s summer of success tour isn’t stopping yet boys and girls. When he’s not working incredibly hard to ensure the Portland Trail Blazers reach their full potential next year, he’s been putting in work in the studio… and in front of the camera?

Yesterday, Lillard dropped a fresh music video for his new song “Dre Grant”. This song comes off Lillard’s recently released album, Big D.O.L.L.A. — his third in four years. The album has done so well, it deserved a high quality music video to boot. With catchy lyrics and beautiful cinematography, this video is well the watch.

The song “Dre Grant” documents the community at the Brookfield Place Apartments in Oakland, California. This is the place where Lillard grew up and helped him find his identity and mature into a man; in that sense it’s only right he pays his dues with this music video.

Brookfield resident Dre Grant — the man this song is named after — left an emotionally charged statement in the video, “Brookfield is all of us, family. See in here, we learn to survive, we learn to accept and we learn to be around one another… See Brookfield is not a gang, it’s a community.”

“This neighborhood wasn’t always known for positive attributes like basketball and music, you know we known for hustlers and pimps and gangsters and things of that nature,” another resident said. “For [Lillard] to emerge the way he did and bring a positive light to the neighborhood and the community is a beautiful thing and I love him for it.”

This isn’t the first time Dame has shown love to the Brookfield community though. He still heads back each year to host a picnic event with food, games and activities they wouldn’t normally be able to experience. It’s inspiring to see such an incredible basketball player also be an incredible human being that will never forget his roots.

But don’t think for a second his newfound success in the hip hop industry has clouded his judgement or priorities. Dame took to Twitter to dispel any notion he wasn’t working overtime this offseason to ensure he’s the best basketball player and musician he can be.

Regardless of which craft he’s pursuing, the Portland Trail Blazers are lucky to have a competitor that will never stop short of becoming the best at what he does.
